BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne police believe they have arrested the man who attempted to rob the 7-11 on Avenue C on Wednesday.

According to Lt. Eric Amato, Alex Portanova, 22, was taken into custoday at approximately 7:05 p.m. Tuesday after being identified as the suspect in that incident.

As previously reported, on the night in question Portanova allegedly walked into the story and demanded a 52-year old employee had over all of the money in the safe.

The victim refused to comply with the demands and the suspect left the store empty handed.

Portanova was transferred to Hudson County Jail.
