BAYONNE, NJ - An investigation is underway into the death of a 25-year-old man inside a ship at Bayonne Dry Dock Sunday.
According to a report, the Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to the USNS Red Cloud that was in dry dock for repair at approximately 9:26 a.m. Upon arrival firefighters found the victim who was employed by a painting contractor had fallen approximately 35 feet down into a confined space in the forward bow section of the USNS Red Cloud ship.
Firefighters set up for a technical rescue and descended into the area finding the man, who, despite the efforts of EMTs from McCabe Ambulance, was later announced deceased on the scene, unresponsive.
