BAYONNE, NJ - The swift and decisive actions of the Bayonne Fire Department saved a West 20th Street home from being consumed by fire Tuesday, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said.

According to Weaver, firefighters were dispatched to 85 West 20th Street at approximately 11:03 a.m., and, upon arrival, found fire on the 2nd floor front porch of the two and a half story home. Using a handline to  extinguish the blaze, the fire was brought under control in 10 minutes.

Damage was contained to the porch area and the Bayonne Building Department allowed all the occupants to return home. Based on an investigation the blaze is not considered suspicious in nature.
