BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne firefighters made quick work of an afternoon blaze at a home on Thursday.

According to fire officials the alarm was raised shortly before 1:00 p.m. when smoke was reported coming from the second floor of the two family home. Once on scene Bayonne firefighters found an active fire on the second floor, extinguishing it quickly.

A resident on the first floor made it out without injury and firefighters rescued a dog that lived in the home.

While it is not considered suspicious the cause of the fire is under investigation Fire Chief Keith Weaver said.
