NEWARK, NJ - A 35-year-old Bayonne man has been arrested in connection with a February 17 vehicle fire in Newark, according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

In a Sunday statement Ambrose said that Keith Cuniffe was one of two men charged in the incident which occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. at 1211 Broad Street. According to Ambrose, the Newark Fire Department extinguished the fire that consumed a 2004 Chevy van.

An arson investigation launched immediately after the blaze revealed video footage of two men, in two separate vehicles, arriving at a gas station on McCarter Highway before the incident. One of the men, the statement said, purchased gasoline in a container, then they both drove to the area where the van was located and poured the gasoline on two parked vans. One van ignited and the men fled.
