JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Bayonne Police Department was out in force Tuesday as Public Safety Director Robert “Red” Kubert and Bayonne Police Chief Rob Geisler led a large contingent of BPD officers at the funeral of Jersey City Police Detective Joe Seals.

The BPD Honor Guard participated in the solemn event at St Aeden’s Church as dozens of Bayonne police officers stood with thousands of their law enforcement brothers and sisters from across the country to offer a final salute to Seals.

Still more Bayonne police officers patrolled Jersey City’s South District, providing relief so that Jersey City officers could attend the funeral, part of a multi-agency effort organized by Geisler, who also serves as president of the Hudson County Police Chiefs Association.

“When an officer loses his life in the line of duty it is like losing a family member, because in law enforcement we are all family,” Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain said. “At the end of it all we are all one, and that’s why our communities mourned together today.”
