JERSEY CITY, NJ - Two Bayonne residents killed in an overnight fire have been identified as Balbina Macchio, 75 and John Macchio, 65, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Friday.

According to a statement the married couple lived in Unit 236 of the building.

The statement read that a preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and Bayonne Fire Department has determined that the deadly blaze started in the kitchen of the couple’s apartment. The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.

The Regional Arson Task Force is actively investigating this incident with assistance from the Bayonne Fire Department.
