BAYONNE, NJ - 13 residents were displaced from their homes at 130/132 Lord Avenue Tuesday after fire tore through the two-family structure.

According to officials, Bayonne police officers arrived first on the scene and helped all occupants to escape unharmed. Firefighters arrived just moments later, at approximately 5:18 p.m., finding fire and heavy smoke on both the second and third floors.

By stretching hoses into the building “arriving units began an extensive interior attack to keep this from growing,” Fire Chief Keith Weaver stated. The fire, which caused extensive damage to the interior of the home, was brought under control in just under an hour, and before it could spread to neighboring structures.
