BAYONNE, NJ - A Jersey City man already wanted for previous offenses led Bayonne police on a foot chase Saturday after he crashed a stolen motorcycle he was driving.

According to Lt. Eric Amato the incident began to unfold at approximately 7:24 p.m. when the man, identified as Aliquan Easterling, 19, was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the area of 32nd Street and Avenue E.

Once on the scene police are said to have observed the suspect who, despite orders to stop, fled towards the 22nd Street Light Rail station. Easterling is said to have scaled a fence and entered the tracks when police lost sight of him briefly, before seeing him entering a yard on East 33rd Street.

New Jersey Transit police were notified and light rail operations in the area were halted for a brief period of time and at approximately 10:19 p.m. Bayonne police were notified that their counterparts at NJ Transit had detained Easterling at the 22nd Street Lightrail Station.
