BAYONNE, NJ - An 18-year-old Jersey City man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an online threat that violence was going to occur at Bayonne High School on Wednesday.
According to Bayonne Police Captain Joseph Scerbo, Deandre Jefferson, 18, was taken into custody from his McAdoo Avenue home at approximately 11:20 p.m. and charged with False Public Alarm, False Reports to Law Enforcement, and Terroristic Threats.
The threat, which prompted a strong rebuke from Bayonne Public Schools Superintendent John Niesz, was posted online at approximately 5:45 p.m. and referenced the shooting that had taken place just hour previously, claiming the life of Jersey City Detective Joe Seals and five others.
“The way they was shooting today is the way same way how imma shoot Bayonne high up,” the threat said.
According to Scerbo the investigation also revealed that at no time was this a credible threat.
