BAYONNE, NJ - The Bayonne Fire Department added what local officials said was a desperately needed new rig to their fleet on Tuesday.

Mayor Jimmy Davis was joined by City Councilmembers Juan Perez, Neil Carroll III, and Sal Gullace, as well Fire Chief Keith Weaver and members of the Bayonne Fire Department as Reverend Dorothy Patterson offered up a prayer to bless the new apparatus before it was entered into service.

Weaver touted the unique private-public partnership with Control Services LLC as the driving force behind the acquisition of Engine 4 saying that the company’s president, Joe Bolowski, is “a Bayonne guy that is always giving back to his community”.

The ceremony was also used an an opportunity to pay tribute to local teen Devonte Moore, 17, who is credited with calling 9-1-1 and then alerting residents of a swift moving fire that occurred on East 16th Street earlier this month, his actions, they said, preventing any serious injuries.
