BAYONNE, NJ - A Maryland man led Bayonne police on a pre-dawn pursuit Saturday, eventually stopping his car and fleeing on foot in the area of West 51st Street before being taken into custody, Captain Eric Amato reported.

According to a statement, the man, identified as Michael Fischer, 23, disregarded attempts to stop him in the vehicle he was operating in the area of 37th Street and Kennedy Boulevard just after 4:00 a.m. Heading northbound on Kennedy Boulevard at a high rate of speed, police say Fischer disregarded several red traffic lights. After abandoning his vehicle Fishcer was stopped in the area of West 50th Street where he was taken into custody.
