BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne police are investigating after a 37-year-old man reported being stabbed at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday when he attempted to intervene in an argument between his friend and a group of five males that allegedly approached them in the area of JFK Blvd. and 19th Street.
The victim told members of the Bayonne Police Department that the argument escalated and that the suspects brandished knives in an attempt to attack his friend. After the suspect was stabbed in the side he reported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of the non-life threatening injury.
Earlier on Friday, Bayonne police arrested a 16-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, both Bayonne residents, in a separate incidents allegedly involving knives.
According to Lt. Eric Amato, officers responded to the area of 50th Street and Broadway at approximately 8:02 p.m. on a report of a male being chased by a group of individuals, some of whom were said to be in possession of knives.
Upon locating the victim, officers were told that he was approached by the group, all of whom he was familiar with, in the area of 48th Street and Avenue E.
The victim reported being assaulted by the male suspect and that the teenager lunged at the victim with a large knife. The victim evaded the attempted stabbing and fled on foot with both suspects following behind, both the victim said, carrying knives.
After giving up the chase at 50th Street, the suspects were said to have retreated back to the group where police officers located them and, after an identification by the victim, took the teen suspect into custody.
Officers then made contact with the female suspect, identified as Krystle Ives, who responded to Police Headquarters where she was arrested and also charged with assault and weapons offenses. Ives was also found to have four outstanding warrants.
Police reported that a search of the area where the incident took place led to the recovery of the knives which were said to have been positively identified as the knives allegedly possessed by the juvenile and Ives during the assault.
