BAYONNE, NJ -- Bayonne High School's first girls wrestling team won its first-ever match on Wednesday with a 27-15 decision over Perth Amboy.

It was the first varsity girls-only wrestling meet in the history of Hudson County scholastic sports. Four wrestlers for Bayonne were winners of their respective matches.

Jimena Figueroa-Martinez pinned her oppnent in 1:54 at 100 pounds. At 121 pounds, Somaia Elkoda of Bayonne pinned her opponent in 5:20. Gianna Puzycki of Bayonne scored a pin in 3:51 at 143 pounds. In the 161-pound weight class Mackenzie Finn of Bayonne registered an 11-6 decision.

Emmalyne Dugan, Bayonne's representative at 128 pounds, was ready to wrestle, but Perth Amboy did not have an opponent for her, so she was awarded a forfeit victory.
