BAYONNE, NJ - City officials have reminded residents that Saturday marks the opening of Buddy Baseball, a recreational baseball league for children and young adults with special needs. This is the 5th season of the league managed by the City’s Director of Recreation, Pete Amadeo.
Players, families, and friends will kick off the start of the season with a parade from the Bayonne Museum to the playing field beginning at 10 am.
Drivers are asked to obey all posted no parking signs and avoid the area of Broadway between 8th and 11th Avenues which will be closed until the parade ends.
During his recent State of the City Address Mayor Jimmy Davis invited everyone to the special event challenging anyone not to shed a tear when they “see the joy on these young people’s faces.”
Buddy Baseball, he said, best “paints a picture of the Bayonne community, a community that cares for its own.”
