BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bayonne boys basketball team has almost matched its victory total for all of last season, capturing a 61-40 triumph over Glen Ridge Friday in the first round of the Bloomfield Holiday Tournament.

"I feel with our ability to play hard and compete, we can turn it around this season and surprise some teams," Coach Steve Russel told TAPinto Bayonne earlier this year.

Senior swingman Ivan Alas scored 19 points for the Bees, who broke the game open with an 18-4 run in the third quarter to take a 48-29 lead.
