JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The Bayonne boys basketball team nearly pulled off the upset of the season on Tuesday before losing, 65-59, to state-ranked power St. Peter's Prep on the road.
Mark Armstrong scored 17 points and came down with four rebounds for St. Peter's Prep (11-2), which trailed, 51-45, after three quarters.
Bayonne, while playing more consistently competitive than the Bees did a year ago, came into the game with a 3-9 record. Three of Bayonne's last four losses have been by 10 points or less. St. Peter's only losses this season have been against Hudson Catholic and Manasquan.
