PEAPACK-GLADSTONE, NJ -- The undefeated Bayonne girls basketball team added another prestigious victory to its early-season slate by defeating Gill-St. Bernard's, 43-38, on Saturday.

Earlier last week, Gill-St. Bernard's had defeated Franklin, the defending NJSIAA Tournament of Champions winner from 2019.

But on Saturday, Bayonne (8-0) jumped out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter. Senior forward Jada Phillips sank five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to lead the Bees.

Makoye Diawara finished with 14 points, 16 rebounds and two assists, and Eniya Scott had nine points, five assists and five rebounds in the victory.
