TRENTON, NJ — As work concludes on Corlies Avenue at the railroad crossing in Allenhurst, the project will move to Spier Avenue, where two-way traffic is scheduled to be closed at Main Street and Lake Drive, beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18
The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approaches, according to the N.J. Department of Transportation (DOT).
Traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
This federally funded project is included within DOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year across the state.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check DOT’s traffic information website — www.511nj.org — for real-time travel information and for DOT news, follow Twitter @NJDOT_info.
