LAKE COMO, NJ — Lake Como is holding a “Capture the Beauty in Your Backyard” photo contest with submissions due by Friday, May 22.
Sponsored by the borough’s Tourism Commission, the competition encourages residents to focus on what brightens up their backyard, particularly since many are spending more time at home during the coronavirus crisis.
“We’re living through difficult times right now, and I thought this contest could help bring some positivity to social media. It feels like so much of what we currently read is somber and grim, and residents could use a little more ‘sunshine’ to focus on,” said Councilwoman Hawley Scull, who’s also a member of the Tourism Commission.
And residents can be as creative as they wish in their submissions — whether it’s photographing their flowers, plants and trees, family members, pets or whatever “brings beauty into the world.”
Photos will be posted on the borough’s Facebook page, where they will be judged based on the number of “likes” each entry receives directly on its page. Prizes from local establishments will be awarded for the three photos garnering the most “likes.”
All entries are to be emailed to email@example.com. Please include your name and permission to have your photo posted on the Lake Como website or used for borough events.
