And as part of every entry, artists are encouraged to include a family heirloom, old family photos, or artwork or craftwork created by an ancestor that will be part of their work for the exhibit, which will run from July 5 to September 7.

"We hope this combination of contemporary art and ancestral creations will spark an interesting dialogue about the influences of our ancestors on our creative lives, according to co-curators T. Smith and Louise Krasniewicz.

The exhibit is open to all artists, 16 and older, and all media with a maximum of two submitted pieces.  All works entered must be original creations by the artist and not previously exhibited at the Belmar Arts Center.

The online deadline to register is today, June 27. Artwork can be dropped off on Friday, June 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 30 from 10 1 p.m. Acceptance notices for exhibits that are curated will not be issued, so artwork must be dropped off on these dates.

Since this is a curated exhibit, all submitted works will be installed if they meet show guidelines.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. with commentary by the artists at 6 p.m.
