BELMAR, NJ — A book fair and back to school night for parents are on the calendar this week at Belmar Elementary School.

The Scholastic Book Fair is being held through Friday, September 21 during school hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parents will have the opportunity to visit the Belmar PTO-sponsored fair during Back to School Night today, September 18.

Scholastic Book Fairs also offers online shopping for Belmar Elementary School through Saturday, September 25 by clicking here. All orders will be shipped free to the school.

Orders are due on Friday September 21 for the PTO’s Annual Fall Mum Sale, featuring nine-inch potted perennials in a variety of colors priced at $7 each or three for $18. The plants will be ready for pick-up at the school on Wednesday, September 26 at dismissal time at 3 p.m.

Order forms are being sent home with students and can be downloaded by clicking here. There also is an option to make a donation, in lieu of a flower purchase, on the form. For more information, call Megan Byrne at 732-749-0808.

And here’s a rundown of what else is happening through the end of the month and throughout the year.

The Kona Ice Cream truck will make it a Fun Food Friday on September 21 at dismissal time on the 11th Avenue side of the school Rain date is September 28.

Box Tops for Education is back with Belmar’s first contest ending in October. The class with the most Box Tops will win a special prize of its choice.

The Belmar PTO has set a goal of bringing in $1,000 in the annual General Mills fundraising campaign. When sending in clipped Box Tops, make sure the teacher’s name for the earning class is clearly marked on the envelope or bag.

Belmar Elementary is also participating in Stop & Shop’s A+ School Rewards fundraiser.  Parents, staff and the community can use their registered Stop & Shop Card during a shopping trip to earn cash for the school. The school will receive one cash awards check at the end of the program that can be used for a school use this cash for any of our educational needs.

Belmar Elementary School PTO welcomed a returning slate of officers during its first meeting of the year on September 12: president Carol Turano, vice president Virginia Conklin, treasurer Susan Trogu, recording secretary Erica Wortman and corresponding secretary Tara Morton.
