Belmar Elementary School Cuts Short School Days Due to Extreme Heat

Extreme heat and humidity has prompted Belmar Elementary School to conclude the school year with a full week of half-day session, beginning on June 12.

BELMAR, NJ — Belmar Elementary School will end the school year with a full week of half-day sessions, starting today, June 12. Due to the extreme heat and humidity that is predicted, there will be 1 p.m. dismissals for today and tomorrow, June 13.

The schedule already called for half-days on June 14, 15 and 16 — the last day of the school year. All afterschool activities are canceled for June 12 and 13, and lunch will be provided on all five days.

Eighth-grade graduation ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. Then on Friday, June 16, there will be the Belmar Parent-Teacher Organization’s eighth-grade breakfast at 10 a.m. at the school, and the graduation class’s annual dinner-dance will be held at 6 p.m. at Taylor Pavilion.
