BELMAR, NJ — Lisa Gleason has left her position as principal and director of curriculum at Belmar Elementary School.
The announcement of her resignation was made yesterday, June 29, at the Belmar Board of Education meeting, where she addressed its members.“I want to sincerely thank the board for the wonderful opportunity I have had to serve as an administrator,” said Gleason, who recently earned her doctorate in educational leadership and administration from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City. “I can say that for six years, I looked forward to coming to work. I am fortunate to feel that way. I will take all my memories to the next district.”
Gleason will be joining the Wall Township Public School District, where she will serve as director of curriculum. “There is so much talent here in Belmar, I hope to expand channels of collaboration between both districts,” she said.
Due to her departure, Belmar Superintendent David Hallman will assume the role of principal. In addition, Sarah Wilton, who was teacher facilitator/supervisor of instruction, has been appointed assistant principal, and child study team member Lauren Vasile has been promoted to supervisor of special services.
Gleason said she was pleased to see the appointments were made from within the school. “I am confident the students will be in good hands,” she told the board.
In other resignation news, Lake Como Board of Education member Joseph Oleszkiewicz has stepped down as its representative to the Belmar Board of Education. Carol Hope will fill that post until the end of the year.
