BELMAR, NJ — The Belmar Kite Festival will get off the ground tomorrow, September 29 along the Third Avenue beach, beginning at 11 a.m.

All eyes will be turned the skies for the free event, sponsored each fall by the Belmar Business Partnership, with members of the South Jersey Kite Flyers and the Passing Wind Kite Club showcasing their kite-flying skills.

The high-flying spectacle traditionally attracts hundreds of spectators who come to watch a sea of colorful home-crafted creations and large show kites billow above the beachfront.

Adjacent to the festival area, adults and children alike are also welcome to fly their own kites, which will be available to purchase, along with flutter flags and banners, bubble wands and other wind-powered souvenirs.

Children will have a chance to get up-close and personal with large inflatables — courtesy of Mike Dallmer of the South Jersey Kite Fliers — bouncing on the sand.

To watch how the professionals get their kites flying, set-up time is 10 a.m.
