BELMAR/LAKE COMO, NJ — A high wind warning is in effect through 6 p.m. today as a coastal storm moves to the northeast, according to the National Weather Service.
With west winds at 25 to 35 mph, gusts could reach nearly 50 mph into tonight, October 17, the weather service said.
It warns that damaging winds could topple trees and power lines, and travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Windy, with a west wind 29 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Windy, with a west wind 22 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind around 18 mph.
Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 48. Northwest wind 10 to 16 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 60.
