FREEHOLD, NJ — A Belmar man has been indicted on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Salvadore Quiroz, 30, of Belmar was formally charged late last week with alleged sexual assault of a victim under age 13, and endangering the welfare of a child for sexual misconduct, as well as for abuse and neglect, said Chris Swendeman, a prosecutor’s office spokesman. He also faces a disorderly persons charge for theft of service.
Quiroz remains in Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, where he has been since his arrest on May 21 on Main Street in Belmar by Police Officer Lawrence Kelly and Detective John Mahoney. Details of the incident were not made available by the Belmar Police Department.
Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by state and federal law.
