BELMAR, NJ — Belmar police are looking for information on a hit-and-run accident that occurred early this morning, leaving two pedestrians with injuries.
Responding to a 911 call at 1:28 a.m. on June 1, Belmar police found an adult female and adult male injured after being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of E Street and 15th Avenue.
A vehicle reported to have fled the scene is described a silver-colored Cadillac Escalade —a full-size sport utility vehicle — that was heading north on E Street, according to Belmar Police Chief Andrew Huisman..
The scene of the accident is near Mitzi and Emily’s Playground at the corner of 15th Avenue and E Street, and one block east of Main Street, which is usually busy during the early-morning hours this time of year with the bar crowds emanating from the downtown district.
Both victims, who identities were not released, were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Their conditions are not known.
In addition to the Belmar Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Analysis Response Team responded and is assisting with this ongoing investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information that may help in locating the vehicle and driver is asked to call the Belmar Police Department at 732-681-1700.
