BELMAR, NJ — For more than four decades, 180 Turning Lives Around has been providing supportive services to survivors and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. As a way to reach out to those in need during these trying times, the nonprofit group is partnering with the Belmar Public Library for a special webinar on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Erin Walker, a licensed social worker with the nonprofit group, will lead the free online presentation, providing an overview of its programs and services, as well as raising public awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault in New Jersey, particularly amid the current coronavirus crisis.
“As we know, COVID has impacted everyone in a different way, and at 180 we know COVID hasn't stopped domestic or sexual violence,” Walker said. “That's why it is so important to get the word out about 180TLA to make sure members of the Monmouth County community know they have an agency that they can turn to — not only during COVID, but any time, for free services.
“Whether it is counseling, speaking to an advocate, wanting to volunteer or just in need of information, we are here to help,” added Walker, who will be taking questions from webinar participants.
The program, which is being offered through Zoom, is open to the public. To register to receive login information, click here.
