Belmar Puts One-Way Traffic Patterns in Place

BELMAR, NJ — Anyone familiar with Belmar knows there is one telltale sign of summer’s approach — the return of the one-ways.

Beginning yesterday, all avenues on the south side of Main Street from 13th to 19th are now one-way only, with even streets going eastbound to Ocean Avenue and odd streets going westbound toward Main Street.

For roads running north to south, Surf and Snyder avenues are one-way southbound and C Street is now one-way northbound for its entire length. River Avenue is northbound from Second to First Avenue.

The traffic pattern, which remains in effect until late September, is utilized in order to ease traffic flow during the busy summer months. Motorists are advised to exercise caution — and look both ways on these streets — as people become accustom to the change.

In other beachfront news, the restroom facilities on the boardwalk will be operational by Monday, May 1.
