BELMAR, NJ — Entrepreneur magazine has named VIE Healthcare — a Wall-based consulting firm founded by Belmar resident Lisa Miller — as one of the “Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America.”

The company ranked 211 in the magazine’s highly anticipated Entrepreneur 360 list, which recognizes independently held companies that are mastering the art and science of growing a business. By using a proprietary algorithm and other advanced analytics, companies are evaluated in the comprehensive study on four major metrics — impact, innovation, growth and leadership.

Launched in 1999 by Miller, VIE Healthcare provides leading-edge hospital purchased services, such as financial and operational consulting for hospitals, health care institutions and all providers of patient care.

Serving as CEO and senior managing director, Miller and her team have generated more than $450 million in nonlabor cost-savings and revenue improvements for their health care clients during the past 20 years.

VIE was among four New Jersey companies named to the third annual Entrepreneur 360, published by Entrepreneur Media Inc. of Irvine, Calif. The others were Terracycle of Trenton ranked at 63, Today’s Business in Pine Brook at 155, Vydia of Holmdel at 179 and Evolution Labs of Morristown at 343.

"Our annual evaluation is a 360-degree analysis of top privately held companies representing and serving a variety of industries," said Lisa Murray, chief insights officer for Entrepreneur. "Every year, we review a new batch of entries that reflect great entrepreneurial strides. The ones that make the list have implemented visionary initiatives impacting their communities for the better, innovative ideas redefining industry standards, leadership practices fostering enviable company cultures and creative growth strategies launching their brands to new heights."

With businesses from 40 states represented in the ranking, the total average revenue growth for the companies on the list increased 143 percent from 2015. Down slightly from last year, employee average growth over three years was 49.5 percent, and the companies showed that current venture capital and traditional lending is stronger than ever, by securing more than $1.8 billion in funding.

Collectively, the Entrepreneur 360 is a valuable economic indicator of the country's business vitality, since entrepreneurial businesses account for 99.7 percent of all companies with paid employees in the United States, according to the Small Business Association.
