BELMAR, NJ — Due to the rain in Sunday's weather forecast, Belmar's Halloween parade and trunk or treat have been canceled. The costume contest will be held, moving to the municipal gym, 601 Main Street, with registration beginning at 11 a.m.

Open to children from Belmar and Lake Como, the October 27 contest will feature prizes for the top winners in five categories: funniest, scariest, most-original, best looking and best overall. They will be judged in four age groups — from pre-school to eighth grade — and for overall group of three or more people.

Prizes are being sponsored by the Belmar-based Order of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore.
