BELMAR, NJ — Although two new Belmar businesses are quite different in what they offer, their names exemplify exactly what is bringing patrons through their doors.
Situated in the borough's central shopping district, Creativity Lab at 809 Main Street offers a makerspace for people of all ages to exploring today’s technologies through hands-on learning experiences. And at 1605 Ocean Avenue, Shop Beaches is a boutique featuring beachwear and a wide array of cheery and bright accessories.
Both businesses celebrated their grand openings this weekend on June 22 and June 23, with ribbon-cuttings presented by the Belmar Business Partnership.
At Creativity Lab, adult and student learners alike engage in a wide range of innovative projects that use robotics, crafting, 3D printing and coding to build authentic skills in science, technology, math, the arts and engineering.
“We’re surrounding by so much technology, but too often we are just consuming it,” said owner Lauren Stout of Belmar, a mother and school teacher. “Our mission is to empower students to create with, not consume, technology.”
At Shop Beaches, its shelves are brimming with beach wear and other beach-inspired items — from sandals and sunglasses to bathing suits, beach hats and beach towels.
This is the second retail establishment for Annmarie and Michael Manna who also own Ann Bags Boutique in Bradley Beach. For more information, call 732-608-4381 or visit Shop Beaches’ Facebook page by clicking here.
