BELMAR, NJ — The Belmar Youth Club will be back in action every Saturday night, beginning today, November 18.

For the next four months, club members will take over the recreation gym nearly every Saturday evening to get together with their friends. Open to Belmar Elementary School and St. Rose Grammar School students, the club is held in two different sessions, based on age:

  • For third- to fifth-graders from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • For sixth- to eighth-graders from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Club members have the opportunity to participate in free play and organized games in a structured, safe, chaperoned environment in the gym, located at the Belmar Municipal Building, 601 Main Street.

The cost is $25 per child and registration can be made on the first night of the program, which runs through March 24. There will be no sessions on November 25, December 23, February 17 and March 3.

Fun for the Younger Bunch

For children age 1 to 4, Belmar’s Toddler Time is held every Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the recreation gym.

Children and their “adult guests” can participate together in this unstructured class, where youngsters can crawl through a play tunnel, climb into a bounce house or just enjoy a morning of fun activities. A snack and drink are provided.

Parents and guardians are asked not bring sick children to Toddler Time.

The program is free for Belmar residents and now closed for nonresidents. Preregistration is required and identification must be shown for proof of residency.

For more information on either program, email the Belmar Recreation Department at recreation@belmar.com.

November 16, 2017

To the Editor:

The November 14 op-ed by New Jersey Audubon’s lobbyist Kelly Mooij titled, “Sustained, Severe Cuts Equal Setbacks at NJ DEP” paints a misleading picture of how effectively the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is carrying out our mission. Ms. Mooij’s false assertions demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding of how DEP operates to protect ...
