BELMAR, NJ — The borough's downtown will turn into an outdoor art gallery and artisan fair, complete with roving musicians and performers, during tomorrow's Artwalk, to be held from noon to 4 p.m.
Stretching from Fifth through 13th Avenue along Main Street, the popular event will showcase the talent of more than 60 local artists, musicians and participating businesses in the community. An interactive area for children, walking mural tour and a secret word search prize drawing will be featured.
New additions to this year’s event include a 3-D chalk art demonstration in Pyanoe Plaza and an expanded “Artists’ Row” at 12th Avenue and Main Street, where nearly 30 artisans and artists will provide attendees with an opportunity to browse and buy.
The day will wrap up with an artist “meet-and-greet” party, hosted by Beach Haus Brewery at Eighth Avenue and Main Street, from 4 to 6 p.m., where the word search prize winner will be announced.
Attendees are encouraged to take a brief stroll to the Belmar Arts Center, where its 13th Annual Juried Art Show — the largest in its history with 82 selected entries — is on exhibit through Friday, May 5. The center is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and River Road. Also, the center recently opened its artisan store, featuring creations from many of the vendors who attend its spring and summer markets.
The Artwalk, which takes place rain or shine, is produced by the Belmar Arts Council, and sponsored by Belmar Tourism Commission, Spark Marketing Solutions and the Belmar Business Partnership.
Guide maps will be available at the Belmar Arts Center and in Pyanoe Plaza during the event, as well as online at www.belmararts.org, where a list of participating artists, performers and businesses is posted.
