BELMAR/LAKE COMO, NJ — It’s amazing how quickly those brightly colored plastic eggs can disappear when children are around. That is exactly what happened at Easter egg hunts held yesterday in Belmar and Lake Como.

Hundreds of children gathered under sunny skies on the Belmar beach, where nearly 4,000 candy-filled eggs were scattered throughout a three-block stretch of sand. Despite a strong, brisk wind, the youngsters had little trouble scooping up the eggs in a matter of minutes.

Sponsored by Belmar’s Recreation Department, the event’s special guest was the Easter bunny, of course, who was more than willing to pose for pictures on the boardwalk.

In Lake Como, Bar Anticipation opened its Grotto Beach to the community for its annual egg hunts. Children by the dozen, accompanied by family and friends, enjoyed the lunchtime festivities, complete with a DJ and outdoor buffet with picnic-style fixings.
