BELMAR, NJ — Learn the basics of crochet from an experienced yarncrafter during a “Come, Learn and Play” presentation today, March 18 at Serenity Lounge, 1004 Main Street.
From noon to 4 p.m. Shannon Bird of Buybybirdie_crochet will be demonstrating the step-by-step process of crocheting, a simple repetitive craft that has been shown to soothe the mind and relax the body.
By looping yard with a hooked needle, patterned fabric pieces are created that can be crafted into a wide variety of items. For Bird, hats for adults and children, scarves, wall organizers, tooth pillows, plastic bag holders and custom-made pieces are among her popular handicraft creations.
Stop by any time during the four-hour event, and enjoy some yogi tea and homemade coconut macaroons — and create something wonderful. There is a small fee for the crochet kit.
Angela Lim of Small Blessings High Style Boutique is also back for a second day this weekend. She will be showcasing her new mermaid collection of necklaces and bracelets — many with etched messages of the sand and surf. A true believer in wearing love, she features a wide assortment of jewelry and other glistening pieces that offer inspiration and encouragement.
