BELMAR, NJ — Look no further than Belmar Manutti Marina’s own supervisor to find one of its best spokespersons. “What isn’t there to love about this,” said Jay Ferrari, his arms outstretched in the direction of the boats docked in the picturesque Shark River. “It’s like being on vacation when you’re not on vacation.”
Ferrari was among a group of event organizers welcoming visitors on April 13 to the first-ever Belmar Boat Show, held at the municipal marina located along Route 35 — just over the Shark River bridge.
As the skies cleared and the light breeze kicked in, it was picture-perfect day for a boat show — and to learn about the marina’s various amenities.
With more than 45 boats on display in the marina’s parking lot, visitors spent time climbing aboard the vessels — both new and used in a variety of brands and styles — to just look or to consider making an investment of a lifetime.
A marketplace for mariners featured vendors selling fishing supplies and high-tech boating equipment, as well as information on boating safety courses.
“The weather decided to cooperate and we couldn't be happier,” said Thomas Burke, a trustee with the Belmar Business Partnership, which hosted the event along with Seaport Inlet Marina and with support of the Belmar Harbor Commission.
“The Belmar marina is one on the best destinations along the Jersey Shore for boating, fishing and water sports, and we wanted to show the public what it has to offer,” Burke said. “We look forward to making the boat show a destination event for many years to come.”
Located just five minutes away by boat to the ocean, the state-of-the-art marina offers 300 boat slips for seasonal and transient docking, a dual boat ramp, a full-service fuel dock, among a host of other features for boaters and water enthusiasts looking to stay for the season, enjoy a vacation or spend the weekend.
The marina is also widely recognized for its party and charter/dive boats fleet — one of the largest in New Jersey — and kayak, personal watercraft and fishing boat rentals.
