LAKE COMO/BELMAR, NJ — The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run will kick off at 9 a.m. today, December 7, bringing road closures to Lake Como and Belmar.
The run will kick off at Bar Anticipation, 703 16th Avenue, Lake Como, as participants will make their way through the east side of Belmar to B Street and Snyder Avenue and continue south to North Boulevard. They will circle the entire lake once and head westbound to Main Street, where they will turn left onto 17th Avenue, returning to Bar Anticipation.
The following streets will be closed beginning at about 8:30 a.m.:
- 16th Avenue from Railroad Avenue to B Street
- B Street from 16th Avenue to 19th Avenue
- 19th Avenue and Snyder Avenue to North Boulevard
- North Boulevard
- Main Street from 16th to North Boulevard
Belmar Police will open Main Street northbound throughout the race from 18th Avenue to 16th Avenue. This will be the best route for residents to leave the east side of town. All intersections should be reopened by 10 a.m.
Residents are asked to be mindful of the street closings while the runners are on the course and cooperate with public safety officials and race volunteers, who will be wearing safety vests. The streets will reopen as soon as the runners pass.
The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is billed as the original festive race for charity, where participants come dress in their favorite holiday costume.
