LAKE COMO, NJ —  Lake Como resident Robert Lamb will be honored on Saturday, May 6 as Shillelagh Man of the Year by the Essex Chapter of the Order of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh.

In recognition of the award, the Lake Como Borough Council declared May 2 as “Robert Lamb Day” — presenting Lamb with a proclamation at its regular meeting.  The honor recognizes “individuals who represent the best of Irish and American values.”

A lifelong resident of Essex County, Lamb served in the Army before forging a career in the advertising industry for 45 years. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Kathleen, moved to Lake Como, where he purchased the home that his parents bought in 1942.

A 20-year member and former president of the Shillelagh’s Essex County Chapter, he marches each year in the West Orange and Belmar/Lake Como St. Patrick’s Day parades. He also volunteers as a road marshal for many races at the Jersey Shore, including the Belmar Shillelagh 5K and the Fallen Heroes 5K in Lake Como.
