LAKE COMO/BELMAR, NJ — The 17h Annual Fallen Heroes 5K Memorial Run will kick off at 9 a.m. tomorrow, September 7, bringing road closures to Lake Como and Belmar.
The run will kick off at Bar Anticipation, 703 16th Avenue, Lake Como, as participants will make their way through the east side of Belmar to B Street and Snyder Avenue and continue south to North Boulevard. They will circle the entire lake once and head westbound to Main Street, where they will turn left onto 17th Avenue, returning to Bar Anticipation.
The following streets will be closed between 8:30 a.m. 8:45 a.m. until the race has finished:
- 16th Avenue from Railroad Avenue to B Street
- B Street from 16th Avenue to 19th Avenue
- 19th Avenue and Snyder Avenue to North Boulevard
- North Boulevard
- Main Street from 16th to North Boulevard
Vehicles will be allowed to proceed north on Main Street from 17th and 18th Avenues, coming from the east side of Main Street only.
Residents are asked to be mindful of the street closings while the runners are on the course and cooperate with public safety officials and race volunteers, who will be wearing safety vests. The streets will reopen as soon as the runners pass.
Presented by the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association, the memorial run pays tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. It will benefit Rebuilding Warriors, a nonprofit group that trains and donates service dogs to honorably discharged vets diagnosed as amputees, as well as those with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
