ROSELLE PARK, NJ — A Medevac helicopter was called in to assist after a construction accident occurred at the Merida Apartment Building construction site in Roselle Park at approximately 10:35 a.m. Saturday. 

Roselle Park Police and rescue units along with Cranford first aide, Trinitas and Union County EMS responders were called to the 200 block of East Westfield Avenue at the construction site where the new Merida apartment complex is under construction.

According to Police Chief Paul Morrison, upon arrival, they had found that a construction worker fallen estimated 70 to 80 feet onto the sendnd-floor concrete pad above the parking garages.

Chief Morrison also added that the worker was alert/conscious, and firefighters and medics worked to extricate him from the second floor after so that he could be transported to the Colfax Avenue side of the high school, where a Northstar Medevac helicopter took the man to University Hospital in Newark.
