LAKE COMO, NJ — After a six-month hiatus, Lake Como’s “Mommy and Me” play group has returned on Wednesdays to borough hall.

The casual get-together where children up to 3 years old bring their moms — or anyone who cares for them — will be held every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the council chambers, which is transformed into a place for fun and games. The group also has several “bonus” activities, particularly for the holidays, and field trips throughout the year.

The play date was organized several years ago by Borough Councilwoman Hawley Scull, a new mom herself at the time, who thought the empty council chambers would be an ideal gathering spot for kids to play and interact, and for parents or caregivers to make new friends. Now that her children are in elementary school, the reins of the group are being passed along.
