EATONTOWN, NJ — A 63-year-old Neptune resident has been arrested in the case of the Pomeranian dog stolen from the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Christmas Eve.
Susan Bajew, who was a customer at the shelter that day and a former volunteer, confessed to taking the dog because she had no money to buy the 9-year-old dog, according to the Eatontown Police Department. The small, light brown and white dog named “Tub Tub” has already been returned to the shelter.
Police were able to identify and locate the accused based on a tip.The arresting officer was Eatontown Detective Jason Cardamoni with co-complainant Lt. Tom Nuccio from the SPCA.
The dog was taken from the facility at 260 Wall Street at about 12:30 p.m. on December 24. SPCA employees were made aware that the dog was missing when its adoptive owner arrived on Sunday to pick him up.
