BELMAR, NJ — A trio of recognized names in their own food specialties is taking a spot this summer at the corner of Ocean and 17th Avenues in Belmar.
The location will be home to Luigi’s Pizza of Ocean and America’s Cup Coffee & Tea Company of Asbury Park — newcomers to the Belmar beachfront — and Playa Bowls, which already operates a shop at 803 Ocean Avenue.
"Lil Playa Bowls" is expected to open before Memorial Day, said total quality manager Brenna Trumper. "We are super excited to have this second store. It will be very similar to our flagship Belmar store in the products we will offer. We will be serving all our bowls, smoothies and juices."
Playa Bowls has experienced a meteoric rise to success, expanding from its first Ocean Avenue pop-up shop opened in 2014 Avenue to some 30 locations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Florida.
While representatives from the other two eateries did not respond to requests for comments, a large sign has already been erected to herald their anticipated arrival at the hub location for the summer season. Carducci’s Pizzeria has been operating from the site for the past several years.
Here’s some basic information on Luigi's and America's Cup Coffee, gleaned from their websites and local newspaper coverage.
Luigi’s Pizza has been serving the Jersey Shore since 1939, now with two locations — on Sunset Avenue in the Wanamassa section of Ocean and in Neptune’s Ocean Grove. Named as one of the best coffeehouses by New Jersey Monthly, America’s Cup Coffee has become a staple along Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park since opening in 2006.
