BELMAR, NJ — Power at the Boathouse Bar and Grill on Main Street and nearby homes has been restored — nearly 34 hours after a roll-off container truck knocked down a utility pole on 15th Avenue on Memorial Day.

The circumstances surrounding the May 28 incident involving the truck, owned by Lynx Waste & Recycling Solutions Inc.of Lake Como, were not immediately known. It appeared that the snapped pole holding a transformer fell into the 10-year container on the truck's bed without incident. There are no known injuries.

The Belmar Police Department closed 15th Avenue where the truck remained blocking the street until the arrival of Jersey Central Power & Light crews. According to the company’s website, power
