Ready, Set, Go for Tomorrow's 13th Annual Lake Como 5K Romp

The Lake Como 5K Romp benefits the New Jersey State Elks Association’s Camp Moore for Children with Special Needs and the Lake Como Giving Tree. Credits: Jersey Shore Running Club

LAKE COMO, NJ — Participants in tomorrow's 13th Annual Lake Como 5K Romp will traverse the streets of Lake Como and Spring Lake near the lake, beginning at 10 a.m.

Sponsored by the Jersey Shore Running Club, the race is a run or run/walk event that begins at Bar Anticipation, located at 703 16th Avenue, with registration opening at 8:30 a.m.

It ends at Bar A with a post-race barbecue. Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 overall winners in both male and female categories.

Proceeds will benefit the New Jersey State Elks Association’s Camp Moore for Children with Special Needs and the Lake Como Giving Tree.

Situated in Haskell in the Ramapo Mountains, Elks Camp Moore offers a fun-filled vacation away from home for specially challenged children. Its goal is to further develop the recreational and social skills of each child in a relaxed and accepting atmosphere.

Each year, Lake Como reaches out to borough families in need through its Giving Tree, offering children special gifts through donations to brighten their holiday season.

Participants can pick up their T-shirts today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Bar Anticipation or beginning at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. For more information, visit the Jersey Shore Running Club website at

Belmar Police Department reported the following arrests occurred in Belmar and Lake Como from April 1, 2018 to April 28, 2018.
