OCEAN GROVE, NJ — Serenity by the Sea at 53 Main Avenue is back in the groove, now open daily from 1 to 4 p.m.

The specialty shop in downtown Ocean Grove has reopened after a three-month hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, shop owner Sarah Taylor Izzo has been busy creating face masks and other handcrafted items, as well as fulfilling orders on her new online store.

But now, she’s beyond thrilled to return to her little shop of wonder and amazement, where the shelves are filled with her ever-changing mix of merriment. “My store opened on June 29, and it was lovely to see so many people — folks poking their heads in to say, 'Hello,' and others who've never been in my shop," she said. “It’s a beautiful space, a beautiful town and a beautiful place to be.”

To ensure all visitors have an enjoyable and safe shopping experience, masks will be required, sanitizer will be made available and no more than three shoppers will be allowed inside at one time.

Izzo also features a selection of handcrafted masks for adults and children, as well as "Just Charmin', Darlin'" face mask charms and COVID 2020 bracelets, which spell out words and phrases to express quarantine angst. "Each contains a large lava rock bead that you can add essential oil to help you keep the calm,” Izzo said.

And as Serenity by the Sea makes its return, more offerings are being added to its online store, including COVID bead bracelets, and cosmic caramel popcorn, a colorful and glittery blend of decadence that is sure to delight.
