Editor’s Note: October 29, 2012. It is a day that the Belmar community will never forget. Superstorm Sandy ravaged the Jersey Shore town, leaving a path of destruction that left an indelible mark on its residents, including John Walsh. While he is known for producing short comedy videos — many poking fun at life in this popular beach town — he recently used his talents for a more somber project and created a video to mark the eighth anniversary of the devastating hurricane. Here is Walsh, in his own words.

BELMAR, NJ — Summer 2012 I had been filming videos of Belmar's boardwalk, pavilions and other recognizable locations such, as D’Jais and Matisse. I never imagined those videos would be some of the last images of Belmar pre-Sandy.

With this footage I was able to put together side-by-side images of the aftermath from Hurricane Sandy. Ideally, I’d like to make a future video with the progress and new buildings that have been added to our community since Sandy.
