BELMAR, NJ — Getting ready for what is expected to be an ideal “local summer” weekend? Make sure that lunch or dinner at Waves on Main is on your calendar.

Before the cooler autumn weather settles in, enjoy your meal on the outdoor patio topped with its distinctive black canopy — a trademark of the popular restaurant situated at the intersection of 10th Avenue and Main Street.

“Our philosophy is that dining should be relaxing, not rushed, experienced in a comfortable atmosphere. And that’s what you’ll find at Waves on Main,” said Kathy Farese. “Our guests are our top priority, and we want to make sure everyone leaves with smiles on their faces.

While Kathy and her waitstaff are taking care of the front of the house, chef Lou Farese is in the kitchen putting his culinary signature on all made-to-order cuisine.

Lunch offerings include small plates of such favorites as fried calamari and garlic shrimp, as well as a flavorful assortment of salads, burgers and sandwiches.

For dinner, Waves on Main’s contemporary coastal American cuisine is a blend of classic seafood, steak and chicken entrees, each prepared to order and served with a house salad or soup.

Appetizers run the gamut — from marinated beef tenderloin skewers and chicken wings to bacon-wrapped scallops and drunken clams.

“Any you never know what kind of daily specials Lou will mix into the regular menu, depending on what locally sourced items are available for the time of the season,” Kathy said.

As an added treat this weekend, Waves on Main will host a Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski party at noon on Sunday, September 24.

There will be a special lunch menu for everyone who stops by to take a look at the Touchstone jewelry, exclusively made with Swarovski crystals and zirconia, designed using the line's unique innovations, cuts and trend colors.

Lunch entrees come with soup and coffee, tea, soda or bring your own. Why not start your holiday shopping early.

Waves on Main is conveniently located at 1000 Main Street, Belmar, right in the heart of the borough’s central shopping district — just blocks from the Belmar train station, marina and beach.

It is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 5 to 10:30 p.m., on Saturday from noon to 10:30 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.  While the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays, the Fareses will gladly accommodate anyone who would like to book a party or special gathering.

Lawn Signs Do Not Vote

Hello, neighbors!  Many have been asking me about lawn signs.  I have decided not to have them made because I feel that they are unnecessary.  Lawn signs do not vote — more importantly, they are a burden on the environment!  Given my opponents efforts for removing the use of plastic shopping bags within our town, I would hope that he agrees with me.

The signs, ...
